There’s one Parallel company event that seems to be the standout over all others: The Annual Chili Cook-Off. This marks the 11th year where departments teamed together to create the world’s greatest pot of chili. Massive levels of pride and bragging rights are always at stake.
Teams are formed by our Culture Committee, with each group required to supply one large Crock-pot full of their best chili (and one tasty dessert). Every team must also choose a theme and decorate their table in accord with their theme. Nine teams were evaluated by five independent chili judges who “blind taste tested” each entry. After the judges tested each chili, they rated accordingly based on flavor, texture, and spice.
After long deliberations, the judges agreed that the winning chili – and recipient of massive bragging rights – went to team Beer Belly Chili, consisting of team members Josh Olson, John Ray, Charlie Gerth, Nate Mechtel, Jason Sandifer, and Nate Ruhland. After the winners are announced, all of our employees enjoy sampling each chili entry and accompanying desserts.
Congratulations to the winning team, and all of the others that participated!
