Barb Emde began her career with Parallel Technologies 24 years ago on December 11, 1991. Over the years Barb has worked in a number of positions including accounts receivable, office administration and accounting positions. Hard work ethic and loyalty are characteristics that come to mind when I think of Barb. Well those, and that she loved the color purple. Certainly Barb left an indelible mark on our long withstanding culture. Barb had a passion for leading and supporting numerous programs and activities to ensure our company was a great place to work.

In addition to Barb joining Parallel Technologies in 1991, I’d like to look back to other notables that year.

  • Operation Desert Storm
  • Bryan Adam had the top song
  • Minnesota Twins won the World Series
  • US national debt was measured in billions, not trillions
  • A stamp was 25 cents
  • Top toy was Super Nintendo with enhanced graphics

Barb also saw many changes at Parallel Technologies, such as ownership changes, office moves, significant technology advances, rapid company growth, the great recession and times of prosperity. In speaking with Barb, she laughed about memories of working with dot matrix printers, DOS accounting systems, typewriters, and paper rolodexes.
Barb we will miss you and thank you for 24 years with Parallel Technologies. Please keep in touch and share all your world travels with us. On behalf of Parallel Technologies, we wish you the very best!
