$130M expansion triples Cologix’s footprint, creating largest and most advanced colocation data center in region

MINNEAPOLIS – April 28, 2017 – Cologix, a colocation data center company, has selected the partnership of Kraus Anderson and Parallel Technologies to design/build the $130 million expansion of its data center in Columbus, Ohio.

The project partners began construction on the 160K sq ft, 18+MW data center in September 2016. The first phase of the project is expected to be operational early-2018. When completed, it will be Cologix’s largest neutral data center.

Parallel Technologies, an industry-leading reliable data center and intelligent building solutions company, was tasked with the design and build responsibilities specific to the IT infrastructure and data center requirements.

For its portion of the project, Parallel Technologies worked with Cologix to design a colocation data center that meets the needs of the most sophisticated cloud providers and enterprises. The company’s team of professional, mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure engineers, as well as designers will oversee all phases of the construction to ensure that the data center is built to Cologix’s requirements.

“Today, more enterprises are increasingly looking at colocation and leveraging cloud services for some aspects of their IT systems as strategies for improving operations and reducing expenses,” explains Dale Klein, CEO and president of Parallel Technologies. “Cologix’s new Columbus facility is being built with those requirements in mind. We are pleased to be a part project that will support the needs of companies in the region – not only today but into the decade.”

Built to withstand violent weather, the data center is being built based on a concurrently maintainable design will have two independent power sources, two cooling systems, a K-rated crash-resistant perimeter fence and guards on duty 24 hours a day. The redundancy, scale, security and connectivity will allow Cologix to uniquely address growing market demand ranging from individual cabinets to multi-megawatt deployments.”
