Challenge

Eastern Carver County Schools needed a more efficient, scalable way to manage security across 16 buildings. Their decentralized systems placed a heavy burden on IT, limited staff autonomy, and made it difficult to respond quickly to day-to-day incidents. They needed a unified platform that could centralize control while empowering building-level teams.

Results

By centralizing security on one platform and leveraging ProCare support, ISD 112 dramatically improved system visibility, response times, and operational efficiency. Building staff now manage daily tasks independently, IT workload has decreased, and the district is positioned to scale its security strategy with confidence.

The District

Eastern Carver County Schools (ECCS) serves students across 16 facilities in Minnesota, committed to creating secure, efficient environments for learning. The district has taken a proactive approach to safety by investing in modern infrastructure and smart technologies, including a districtwide security platform deployment managed by Parallel Technologies.

A Smarter Approach to School Security

Eastern Carver County Schools serves 16 school facilities with a strong focus on building secure, streamlined environments where students and staff can thrive. When faced with the limitations of a decentralized security setup and increasing demands on internal IT, the district saw an opportunity to modernize and streamline its approach.

The district partnered with Parallel Technologies to move to a centralized, scalable security platform—one that would empower local teams, improve visibility, and reduce day-to-day IT strain.

“We needed a partner who understood both the urgency and complexity of modern school security,” said Matt Haga, Director of Technology, Safety, and Security at Eastern Carver County Schools. “Parallel brought structure, clarity, and responsiveness to help us move quickly and confidently.”

One Platform, Districtwide Control

Parallel Technologies deployed a single platform to manage more than 900 surveillance cameras and 400 access points across the district. The intuitive system gave building staff the ability to manage door schedules, monitor footage, and respond to alerts—all without relying on IT for routine tasks.

“We’ve been able to give our teams the tools to manage operations confidently on their own,” Haga explained. “They can retrieve footage, adjust schedules, and respond to incidents faster, without calling in IT.”

Eastern Carver County Schools also implemented features like subject tracking and door sensor alerts to elevate real-time visibility. Integration with ECCS’s lockdown system now allows for rapid, automated responses during emergencies—an essential upgrade for today’s school security expectations.

"Parallel is more than a vendor, they’re a true partner. Their support not only solves immediate challenges, but also strengthens our team’s ability to manage the system with confidence."

Support that Evolves with the District

To support long-term sustainability and maximize their investment in the new platform, ECCS enrolled in Parallel’s ProCare managed services program. Through this partnership, the district receives proactive system monitoring, expert programming assistance, and fast-tracked support whenever issues arise. This has enabled them to stay agile as needs evolve, making continuous improvements without overburdening internal teams.

“ProCare takes it a step further,” said Haga. “It gives us expert support and faster resolutions when we need them. That allows us to stay ahead of problems and focus on improving, not just maintaining.”

Measurable Impact and Room to Grow

Since consolidating operations, ECCS has seen significant efficiency gains. Building staff are now managing their own access controls, system maintenance issues are resolved more quickly, and the IT department has regained capacity for strategic initiatives.

Eastern Carver County Schools now manages more than 900 cameras and 400 access points from a single platform, giving leadership and staff a comprehensive view of campus activity. Staff across all schools operate independently and confidently, using the platform to manage schedules and respond to incidents in real time. Proactive alerts and subject tracking tools have improved how quickly staff can identify and address issues as they arise. As a result, the burden on IT has decreased, and resolution times are faster districtwide.

Looking ahead, the district plans to expand system integrations and equip more facilities with smart sensors. With Parallel Technologies as a trusted partner, ECCS is set up for scalable, secure growth.

“Parallel is more than a vendor, they’re a true partner,” Haga added. “Their support not only solves immediate challenges, but also strengthens our team’s ability to manage the system moving forward.”
