Anyone who knows Billie-Jean Undesser knows that she is busy. “I’m in a lot of organizations and I volunteer a lot”, says Undesser. One peek at her LinkedIn shows just how involved she is in the communities she serves. It takes several scrolls to cover them all. From being the Chapter Secretary of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) to her role as Director of her hometown’s huge “River City Days” event, Billie-Jean seems to have the time and energy to do it all and her hard work has really paid off.

On June 15th it was announced that our very own Billie-Jean had secured a spot on the IFSEC Global Influencers in Security list of 2022 landing at number six on the Manufacturers/Vendors/Integrators/Installers category. The placement is prestigious; nominees are judged by an impressive panel and must meet IFSEC’s definition of influencer:

  • Someone who has played a key role in driving technological innovation
  • Someone who has been a driving force in changing regulation, standards/guidance or best practice
  • Someone whose insights/opinions are widely respected and which are influential in shaping debate around industry issues
  • Someone who has been instrumental in the success of the organization or business they lead or are employed by
  • Someone who has helped to raise the industry’s profile or been an influential voice in the national media

Upon finding out about her nomination and placement on the list, it came as a shock. “It’s still hard to believe that I was ranked in a list with mostly CEO’s, Directors, and Founders of different companies”, says Undesser. Perhaps those who know Billie-Jean and her drive to create safer communities with the power of technology, the nomination wasn’t much of a surprise. Afterall, she was nominated for this placement to begin with.

“A lot of what I have done throughout my career is help end-users build community and a stronger structure with their security systems and processes so they are utilizing technology and organizations around them to help them protect their people, assets and buildings. I have been involved in lots of different organizations and associations like IAHSS and PASS. My experience along with my involvement in these communities has gotten me to where I am today.” Says Billie-Jean.
